Study Program Profile
The scientific excellence of the Information Technology study program is in the application of what is referred to as "Applied IT and IT Preneur", a principle of governance and interconnectedness between technological resources in order to produce added value that is far greater than the costs allocated to them when planning, building, implementing, evaluating, supervising and developing them. An illustration of the relationship between Information Technology science and other scientific fields is shown in the following figure (source: Guide to Preparing the Informatics Science Cluster Curriculum version 1.5).

Image of the Relationship between Science and Other Fields of Science
The image above explains that in this matrix the vertical domain describes the level of conceptuality and/or technicality of discussion and mastery of IT (Information Technology) knowledge. The lower you go, the higher the level of technicality, while the higher you go, the higher the level of conceptuality. Meanwhile, for the horizontal domain, the further to the left the more dissemination and mastery of competencies based on theory of knowledge, while the further to the right the more the direction of mastery of competencies based on applied science.
By using these two dimensions the scientific domains of the five fields of Information Technology (IT) are characterized and differentiated. From the various types of work professions in the IT field that are currently known, in scientific terms, and using the matrix above, the IT specialization field of study can be classified into 5 (five) large categories, namely:
The position of the IT study field which is on the right of the matrix which places more emphasis on applied aspects is very relevant to the Madiun State Polytechnic Information Technology D-III Vocational study program.
