PNM– Madiun State Polytechnic (PNM) Automotive Engineering Technology Study Program (TERO) lecturer, Kholis Nur Faizin, S.Pd., M.T., successfully passed the selection and had the opportunity to take part in a training program entitled“Visionary Management Bootcamp for Vocational University Leaders”at Coventry University, England. The professional training program held by the Directorate General of Vocational Education through the Directorate of Institutions and Resources (KLSD) and funded by LPDP will last for three weeks, from 27 November to 15 December 2023.

Learning at Coventry University
According to Kholis, the Leadership Bootcamp, which was specifically developed by Coventry University, allows training participants to experience learning activities while working with industry. This is inseparable from the strong connections between Coventry University and various industries in the UK so that participants can interact and learn directly from industry experts to gain valuable information about their business.
Furthermore, some of the learning topics provided in the training include technology forecasting, design thinking, innovation, creativity, and strategic planning. Apart from that, participants also received material related to problem analysisproblem treeand formulation of vision withobjective tree.
Analyze the problem withproblem treenamely a visual approach that helps understand the root causes of a problem more systematically. Currently formulating a vision withobjective treenamely arranging a more detailed hierarchy of goals from the main goal to more specific goals. Both of these enable stakeholders, especially the campus, to understand the relationship between different goals and plan appropriate actions to achieve them.

Not only that, participants also received related materialtransition theory, namely transition theory in the context of changing to a polytechnic with a legal entity refers to the transformation process from an educational institution that does not have legal status to a legal entity regulated by certain laws or regulations, multi-level perspective, x-curve, namely the Maturity Curve (Maturity Curve) and Learning Curve (Learning Curve).
Maturity Curve (Maturity Curve) in the context of educational institutions, especially polytechnics or higher education institutions, concept"x-curve"can refer to the maturity curve (maturity curve). This curve reflects the journey of development of educational institutions from the initial stage to the maturity or mature stage. Medium Learning Curve (Learning Curve) is another concept that may be related to legal entity polytechnics.
Visiting Various Industries in England
As part of the training program, Kholis and other participants also took partindustrial visit. These visits include:Institute of Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering(AME).AME is one of Coventry's research centers which collaborates with Unipart to conduct research and downstream batteries for electric cars as well as manufacturing automotive components using advanced equipment, such as metal and non-metal 3D printing.

After visiting AME, visits were also made toManufacturing Technology Centre(MTC). MTC is a research institution owned by the British government which is also a training institution for high school graduate students who want to work directly in industry funded by the British government through a schemeapprenticeship(internship).
According to Kholis, there were interesting lessons from the visit to MTC, namely regarding how MTC carries out vocational education funded by industry so that it can be an effective solution for the British government to produce a ready-to-use, productive workforce and reduce unemployment.
And finally, a visit to the Mini Cooper car factory and big motorbikes (may) Triumph. Kholis said that from the Mini Cooper the participants gained various kinds of knowledge about the interaction between robots and humans to produce precise and high quality products.

Furthermore, from the visit to Triumph Kholis stated that participants could learn how motorbike production is done with alloyscraft manufacturingand the latest technology, from tank painting, frames, to assembly carried out byengineerprofessional usehand-crafting method. This shows that art is also part of the manufacturing process.
