Followed by 426 Bebras Participants, PNM Bureau Gives Bebras Challenge Prizes to 10 Students in 6 Schools

Madiun – Bebras Madiun State Polytechnic Bureau (PNM) handed over Bebras Challenge 2021 prizes to 10 participants spread across six schools on 19-20 July 2022. The prizes were a form of appreciation to the participants who achieved the highest scores in the Bebras Challenge which was held online on 8-13 November 2021.

Bebras itself is Lithuanian for beaver. The Bebras Competition was founded in Lithuania by Prof. Valentina Dagiene from the University of Vilnius in 2004. Bebras were chosen as a symbol of challenge because otters try hard to achieve targets perfectly in their daily activities. The term Bebras is used to show the hard work and intelligence required in life.

2021 will be the third time that Bebras Bureau PNM has held the Bebras Challenge with 426 participants from various schools. Bebras Challenge or Bebras Challenge is part of the activities of Bebras Indonesia. Meanwhile, Bebras Bureau PNM is one of 87 Bebras Bureaus in Indonesia.

Bebras Indonesia is an international initiative that aims to promote Computational Thinking (Thinking based on Computing or Informatics) among teachers and students starting at elementary school level, as well as for the wider community. Meanwhile, the Bebras Challenge aims to enable students to learn Computational Thinking during and after the competition.

The Bebras Challenge consists of four categories, namely Little Ones (SD/MI grades 1-3), Siaga (SD/MI grades 4-6), Penggalang (SMP/MTs), and Enforcers (SMA/SMK/MA/MAK). The following is the number of participants and the list of schools with the highest score in the 2021 Bebras Challenge by the Bebras PNM Bureau:
-Si Kecil (112 participants): MIN 2 Kediri (1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners)

This activity, which is supported by Google.org, aims to spread and teach mastery of Computational Thinking to 2 million students through 22,000 teachers in various subjects in 22 regions in Indonesia.

In this regard, Bebras PNM Bureau also held online Computational Thinking training for 362 teachers in October 2021 and a total of 358 teachers divided into two groups in March 2022. The training participants were teachers from various regions in Indonesia. *(Public Relations Team/PIP PNM)
