The Professional Certification Institute (LSP) P1 Madiun State Polytechnic (PNM) is holding Work Competency Certification Implementation (PSKK) – BNSP activities in 2023. The series of activities starts from the pre-competency test (ujikom) to the implementation of the testcom carried out from 3-17 May 2023. Meanwhile, the testkom location is located in each study program laboratory (Prodi) as a place for the competency test (TUK).
This year is the fourth time LSP P1 PNM has held competency certification, but it is the first time PNM has received funding from PSKK-BNSP. Previously, in 2022, LSP P1 PNM held a certification program with funding from the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Chairman of LSP P1 PNM Rakhmad Gusta Putra, S.T., M.T. said that this time LSP P1 PNM received three packages of grant funds from PSKK-BNSP. "We proposed 15 packages for six schemes, but three packages were approved," said Rakhmad.
"While waiting for the one from Diksi like last year. Hopefully it will be like last year at least. So at least there will be an additional increase in this program for students who have just graduated (ed: already certified)," he continued.
Through funding from PSKK-BNSP, LSP P1 PNM opened three schemes, namely the Tourist Travel Leader Occupation Scheme (Tour Leader), Secretary Occupational Scheme (Secretary), and Occupation Scheme Junior Engineer. Each scheme consists of one package or 20 participants/students.

The series of Ujikom activities begins with the Tourist Travel Leader Occupation Scheme (Tour Leader) on Saturday (06/05). The Ujikom took place at the TUK English Language Laboratory and Mini Bank Laboratory, Building A, Campus 2 PNM and was attended by 20 English Language Study Program students. The examiners were also English Language Study Program lecturers who had certificates as assessors, namely Muhyiddin Aziz, S.S., M.Pd. and Titik Rahayu, S.Pd., M.Pd.
Ujikom Tourist Travel Leader Occupation Scheme (Tour Leader) itself is carried out by assessing student competency through creation itinerary, budgeting, and list of participants. Apart from that, there are also a total of 22 competency units that are tested.
Next is the Secretary Occupation Scheme test (Secretary) which was held at TUK Office Laboratory, Building A, Campus 2 PNM on Monday (08/05). The examiners are PNM lecturers who have certificates as assessors, namely Eva Mirza Syafitri, S.Pd., M.Pd. and Sundaru Guntur Wibowo, S.H., M.Kn.
Ujikom Secretary Occupation Scheme (Secretary) itself is related to secretarial duties, starting from communication, ability to receive guests, telephone calls, customer service, grooming, official travel, petty cash and management schedule.

The last one is the Occupation Scheme test Junior Engineerwhich was held on Wednesday (17/05) at TUK Computer Control Engineering. The assessors on duty came from PNM lecturers, namely R. Gaguk Pratama Yudha, S.ST., M.T. and Sulfan Bagus Setyawan, S.ST., M.T.
Occupation Scheme Junior Engineertesting nine competency units which are made into three scheme families. These include electrical and pneumatic sensors, programming and flowcharts, as well as machine tools and maintaining work environments related to the field of industrial automation.
As additional information, each assessor who is a certified PNM lecturer as an assessor tests 10 participants/students. Meanwhile, the methods used to carry out the kom test include practical demonstrations, written tests and oral tests. However, there are at least two methods used in testcom, namely demonstration practice with the addition of a written test or an oral test depending on the scheme followed.
"The competency test method is clearly demonstration practice, some are written tests, some are oral tests. But there are at least two, one demonstration practice, additionally a written test or an oral test depending on the scheme," explained Rakhmad.

Rakhmad explained that the requirements for participating in competency certification were in accordance with the chosen scheme. Apart from that, prospective participants are PNM students who have completed at least the fifth semester. However, the Certikom activities will be more focused on sixth semester students or those who are about to graduate. The aim is that the certificate obtained can be immediately used to apply for jobs.
"If the scheme requirements are in accordance with the LSP, we have at least the fifth semester. We will focus on the sixth semester that we want to graduate so that we can use it later when we want to apply for jobs." Obviously.
Apart from the minimum requirements for the semester taken, LSP P1 PNM also prioritizes students with a good GPA when accepting registration. Through these applicants, they will be sorted into the 20 students with the highest GPA so that their chances of passing the exam are greater.
Apart from that, Certikom, which receives funding from PSKK-BNSP, is free of charge. "Whether it's paid or not, those who fund BNSP don't get paid." he said.
Therefore, Rakhmad hopes that students can make the best use of this opportunity. Moreover, it is supported by obtaining funding so that the Certikom can be participated in for free.
Rakhmad added that by taking part in Certikom, students will not only get a diploma, but also a competency certificate. This certificate will also be useful when students look for work after graduating from college.
"So to provide recognition (red: legal recognition that you are competent) so that when you graduate you have two weapons. Two weapons, one weapon is a diploma and the other is a competency certificate. Unfortunately, because competency certificates are only valid for three years, that's why we prioritize testing the sixth semester because this means they can be used for quite a long time (ed: after graduating)," concluded Rakhmad. *(Public Relations Team/PIP PNM)
