PNM - The Madiun State Polytechnic (PNM) P1 Professional Certification Institute (LSP) held an activity entitled "Competency Assessor Training and Assessment of Prospective Assessors" on 3-7 October 2023. Located in the Joint Lecture Room, Building C, Campus 2 PNM, the five-day training was attended by 21 PNM lecturers.
Rakhmad Gusta Putra, S.T., M.T. as chairman of LSP P1 PNM said that in general the training and assessment of prospective assessors was aimed at increasing the number of competency assessors in PNM. "Currently there are probably around 13 active assessors registered from seven study programs and with this (ed: training) there are an additional 21 new assessors." he said.
Rakhmad hopes that each study program will have its own certification scheme and assessors with a minimum of two or three assessors. Because LSP P1 PNM itself currently still has six schemes for seven study programs. For this reason, it is hoped that the 21 lecturers participating in the training, taken from almost all the study programs, will be able to develop new test schemes and equipment.
"So in the future, the real goal is to be able to certify our own students in all study programs, so we can facilitate all of them. Currently, it may only be limited to a few." Rakhmad explained.

Furthermore, the Competency Assessor Training and Assessment of Assessor Candidates activities included four days of training. The training is to prepare test equipment with three competency units, namely planning, implementing and verifying assessments accompanied by various tasks for participants. Meanwhile, on the fifth or last day it closes with the implementation of the certification assessment.
Acting as a resource person for the training was Ir. Soeryoadi, MSc and Ir. Edwin Surjosaptanto, BBA, MBA as Master Assessor from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP). Meanwhile, the examiner on the last day was Dr. Windiyati Wahjudi Nugroho, S.Pd. M.Pd, DIPL. CIBTAC, DIPL. CIDESCO and Dr. Ir. Suyanto, MM, ME. who is also a BNSP Master Assessor.
Different from previous years where PNM sent lecturers for training abroad, this year is the first time PNM has carried out Competency Assessor Training and Assessment of Assessor Candidates independently. If previously only four or five lecturers were sent for training, this year PNM was able to get 21 new assessors at once.
There are no special requirements for lecturers who take part in the training. It's just that the lecturers participating in the training are suggestions from the study program, because the study program is the one who knows the lecturers' competencies and their needs. "There are no special requirements, the important thing is that participants (ed: lecturers) have the appropriate technical competence, there are suggestions from the study program." explained Rakhmad.

According to Rakhmad, the scheme that each participant will take depends on the LSP. Even if there is no appropriate scheme, you can create a new scheme according to the lecturer's scientific field.
"We already have a scheme, they (ed: lecturers) will be included in the appropriate scheme according to their knowledge. If there is not an appropriate one then initiate a new scheme so that they will later enter that scheme, become assessors there, test students there." he explained.
Rakhmad hopes that in the future lecturers who are declared competent to be assessors can take part in LSP to become assessors in LSP P1 PNM. He further stated that if the study program that the assessor lecturers come from does not yet have a scheme, they will later participate in drawing up a new scheme.
Not only that, at least training on competency certification can provide knowledge to lecturers so that later the schemes being tested can actually be included in the curriculum. Students who later take part in Certikom will also be able to do well.
Furthermore, Rakhmad also hopes that with the availability of a certification scheme in each study program, graduating students can be facilitated to have a competency certificate from PNM itself. In the end, this certificate can support students when looking for work later.
"If you have a diploma and a competency certificate, you might be better off compared to other colleagues who only have a diploma. As a backup weapon (ed: competency certificate)." Close Rakhmad. *(Public Relations Team/PIP PNM)
