Madiun State Polytechnic (PNM) should be proud. A total of 11 PNM students successfully passed the Europe Industrial Internship selection at Škoda Transportation in 2023. The eleven PNM students come from the Railway Engineering Study Program (Prodi) which is currently in its eighth semester.

Of the 11 students, 10 students passed the test held at PNM on Sunday (28/05/2023). Meanwhile, one student had previously passed the selection process at the Surabaya State Shipping Polytechnic (PPNS).

This industrial internship activity is part of the collaboration between PNM and Markija Berdaya through a program entitled "Markija Internship Program to Europe for Indonesian Vocational Students". As stated by Markija's Key Account Manager, Rafi Piliang, Markija Berdaya itself is more like a contact person between Polytechnics and companies or companies and students directly.

Markija itself has several corporate partners from abroad. "There are several countries that have collaborated with us, namely Hungary, Czechia and Romania. Then those that are already underway are Hungary and Czechia," he said.

According to Rafi, companies from Hungary that have collaborated with Markija include Continental, CSABAcast, Csaba Metál, GameTech. Meanwhile, from the Czech Republic, there are only a few companies that collaborate, such as Prysmian Czech and Škoda Transportation. "The only thing that has sent (ed: students) and will send one of the biggest is Škoda," he explained.

PNM Director Muhamad Fajar Subkhan, S.T., M.T. said that the industrial internship program was in line with the Independent Campus Learning Program (MBKM). "Actually, this program is linear or in line with the MBKM program, which provides industrial experience to students," he said.

Markija has now used the systeminstitutional approachor collaborate with institutions through making an MoU. That way Markija can directly ask student candidates to institutions or in this case specifically Polytechnics.

"For example, whether PNM has a suitable candidate for the company that is currently opening. For example, the Škoda company is suitable for the Škoda company with PNM. Yes, PNM has selected the children, sent the children, prepared the children to be sent to Škoda." Rafi explained. Even though these students are a priority, they are still required to register on the website www.markija.id as a database for Markija.

Tentang Škoda Transportation

Markija Key Account Manager, Rafi Piliang, said that Škoda Transportation itself is a Czech transportation company that owns several companies. Among them are car companies and in Czech there are public transportation companies such as trams, trains, electric buses, electric trains and others which are excellent in Europe. "In Europe, the Czechs have become the prima donna of Europe, the Czechs are proud of this Škoda," he said.

Currently Škoda Transportation is looking for 300 selected candidates to fill several positions, namelymechanic, electromechanic,Andwelder.Said by Rafi, at this timewelderbeing the least filled position compared tomechanicAndelectromechanic.

ActuallymechanicAndelectromechanicdifficult, just because many of our students hold itelectromechanicAndmechanicbecause it's probably the most common, so it's easier to find and there's more competition.WelderThis one has less competition, that's allrequirement"It's the hard part." he explained.

Even so, one of the PNM students, Radiffa Aditama, qualified for the positionwelderat Škoda Transportation. Radiffa is also the 3rd Runner-up in the 2022 National Welding Competition which was held last September at the Medan State Polytechnic.

“Yesterday there was PNMwelderwho passed the PPNS, one person. He won the Welding Competition, won yesterday in Medan. And he qualified for Škoda, an A if I'm not mistaken.” Rafi explained.

As additional information, the test pass rate is divided into threegradeor grades, namely A, B, C. "If it's A or B it still passes, if it's C not. IfmechanicAndelectromechanicThatwaiting list(ed: forgradeB), if thatwelderpassed," he explained.

The reason, mechanicAndelectromechanichas a lot of fans so it's justgradeOnly A passes andgradeB is still inwaiting list. However, the final decision is still pending until the series of test activities ends on June 3 2023.

The tests held by Markija and Škoda Transportation took place at several polytechnics from 23 May 2023 to 03 June 2023. Activities started at Ngeri Batam Polytechnic and Medan State Polytechnic (at the same time), ATMI Surakarta Polytechnic and PPNS (at the same time), Madiun State Polytechnic, Jakarta State Polytechnic, Padang State Polytechnic, Ujung State Polytechnic Look, and finally in Palembang. “It just said there would be an extension forwelder"That is, we will return to Madiun or Surabaya again, or to Batam again." Said Rafi.

Test Stages

Not even two years old, to be precise, since September 2021, Markija has sent around 500 students to various companies in Europe. Where 70% of the total students are vocational students and the rest are university alumni.

The tests carried out for the Europe Industrial Internship have three stages. These include initial stages such as pre-tests, English tests and other online tests. This is followed by an online interview with the Markija recruitment team, and the final stage is a direct test with the company both online and offline depending on the company's request. However, all decisions regarding whether a student passes or not are in the hands of the company.

Meanwhile, the test system is offline orofflineas it took place at PNM, it was first held by Škoda Transportation and Markija. Because usually all series of activities starting from tests, practice, interviews, to the announcement of test results are carried out online. "The only one who directly implemented this system is Škoda, this is the first time it has been tested directly. This is the first time, the others are viaonline.” explained Rafi Piliang.

The test activities that take place at PNM itself are tests for positionsmechanic dan electromechanic. This test was taken by around 33 students who came not only from PNM but also from other universities. These include Jember State Polytechnic, Jember State University, Surabaya State University, Malang State Polytechnic, Surabaya State Electronics Polytechnic (PENS), ATMI Surakarta Polytechnic, and even Batam State Polytechnic.

Departing for Czech

Rafi Piliang, Key Account Manager for Markija Berdaya, said that students who pass the Europe Industrial Internship selection will fly to the Czech Republic in August or September at the earliest and in November 2023 at the latest. "Why does it take a little longer because of document processing..." he explained.

Apart from that, it cannot be separated from the fact that there are still very few Indonesian citizens who receive scholarships to the Czech Republic. "...but in Czech there are still few (ed: students). Meanwhile, 300 people have to leave at once. It's just been taken care of since yesterday, God willing, it will go smoothly." Rafi explained.

Students who pass the Europe Industrial Internship selection will get several benefits. These include accommodation such as accommodation such as apartments, dorms or shared houses, food and visas. Meanwhile, the maximum payment received by students reaches IDR 22 million per month.

For this reason, Fajar hopes that through this Europe Industrial Internship, students can have industrial experience.

"By coincidence, Markija has a partner with Škoda, a leading transportation company in Europe. We at Madiun State Polytechnic focus on excellence in transportation as well, so it's fitting. The hope was that they would have industrial experience through this internship program (ed: for two years)," hoped Fajar.
