PNM – Madiun State Polytechnic (PNM) Railway Study Program (Prodi) held an industrial internship socialization with the Railway Maintenance Center on Wednesday (11/10/2023). The activity, which was attended by around 85 students from the Railway Study Program, took place in the Joint Lecture Room, Building C, Campus 2 PNM.
The Railway Maintenance Center is a Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) under the auspices of the Directorate General of Railways, Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, located in Grobogan, Central Java. Acting as resource persons in this socialization were Muhammad Deandra Ariel Putra A.Md.T as Supervisor of Inspection and Maintenance Testing and Laksmana Bayu Ajie S.T as Heavy Maintenance Section Staff.
The Railway Maintenance Center itself has four functions. These include carrying out periodic maintenance of state-owned railway facilities; carrying out heavy maintenance of state-owned railway facilities; implementation of quality control of maintenance of state-owned railway facilities; and implementation of management of administrative, household, personnel, financial, legal, logistics and public relations affairs.
Personal Revelation, S.ST., M.T. as Coordinator of the Railway Study Program said that the Railway Maintenance Center was chosen as a resource because train maintenance activities in Indonesia are mostly handled by the UPT. Apart from that, the functions carried out are in accordance with the competencies of Railway Study Program students at PNM.
Wahyu further stated that this socialization activity aims to provide insight into internships and train maintenance activities at the Railway Maintenance Center for Railway Study Program students. Therefore, the socialization participants are Railway Study Program students who are currently in their fifth semester.
"The reason is because in the sixth semester, Railway Study Program students will carry out industrial internships and there are courses on train maintenance which are in accordance with the internship theme," explained Wahyu.
Wahyu hopes that this socialization can provide benefits for both the Railway Maintenance Center and the participants. "The hope is that the Railway Maintenance Center can become an industrial partner for PNM to carry out student internships. And for students, industrial internships at the Railway Maintenance Center can strengthen competence and provide research insight in the field of railways as a thesis theme for students. *(PNM Public Relations Team/PIP)
