Madiun State Polytechnic (PNM) held an inauguration activity for the Railway Laboratory Building on Friday, February 10 2023. The inauguration was one of a series of PNM Vocational Celebration events. The building which marks the decade of PNM's founding was inaugurated by the Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.A.P.
On this occasion, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture was accompanied by the Director General of Vocational Education (Dirjen Diksi), Dr. Ir. Kiki Yuliati, M.Sc. and PNM Director Muhamad Fajar Subkhan, S.T., M.T. Not only the Railway Laboratory Building, on the same day the Station Laboratory was also inaugurated by the Director General of Diction and the Train Set Trainer (hybrid) or Train Trainer by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture. In fact, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture and several invited guests also had the opportunity to try out riding the Trainer Train and going around the PNM Railway Laboratory Building.
The Trainer Train itself uses diesel fuel, batteries and overhead electricity (LAA). The fuel used is in accordance with the journey of the railway industry which is currently transforming towards environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation manufacturing.
For information, the Railway Laboratory Building is located on Campus 2 PNM. The construction itself was carried out through financing from State Sharia Securities (SBSN) in 2022. The 2,460 square meter building, which was completed in 7 months, is intended to support research activities and also practical learning for students.
This building is also equipped with 12 laboratories to produce human resources who have national and international expertise and skills in the railway sector. These include the Diesel Propulsion Lab, Railway Manufacturing Lab, Manufacturing Process Lab, Pneumatic Hydraulics Lab, Materials Testing Lab, Precision Engineering Lab, Electric Propulsion Lab, Basic Electrical Lab, Control Systems Lab, 3D Printing & Microcontroller Lab, Industrial Automation & PLC Lab, and Design & Simulation Lab.
Not only that, on the occasion of the inauguration, a cooperation agreement or MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) was also signed between PNM and the Madiun Indonesian Railway Polytechnic (PPI), PT Industri Kereta Api Persero (INKA), Swiss International Technical Connection (SITECO), Maspion IT, and PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia (PII).
The series of inauguration activities was then continued with the opening of the Vocational Festival by the Director General of Diction. The festival, which will be held on 10-11 February 2022, will showcase the work of pupils and students. The aim is for the public to understand that learning in vocational education units is not only limited to the classroom, but can also produce various innovative works. PNM itself exhibited several works, including the KARISMATIC Electric Car, Fuseno EVO 3 Racing Car, and Smart Traffic Light. The Vocational Festival was also attended by no less than 15 tenants consisting of vocational schools around Madiun, polytechnics in East Java, course institutions, and also industry.
As additional information, before the peak event of the inauguration, a series of PNM Vocational Festival events have been held since Tuesday (07/02) through several activities. These include a Guest Lecture with the theme Safety in the Transportation Sector: Case Studies of Different Events, a Small Lecture with the theme Presentation of Course Concept For Transportation And Factory Visit, and an international seminar with the theme Sustainable Transportation In Railway Technology.*(Public Relations Team/PIP PNM)
