PNM Accounting Department Wins 6 Champions in the 2023 VI Vocational Accounting Olympiad

PNM – Madiun State Polytechnic (PNM) Accounting Department students succeeded in winning a number of national achievements in the XI National Vocational Accounting Symposium (SNAV) and the VI Vocational Accounting Olympiad (OAV) on 25-27 July 2023. To be precise, as many as six champion categories in OAV VI were successfully brought home by the PNM Accounting Department team from the event which took place at the Balikpapan State Polytechnic.

SNAV and OAV are national level accounting competency events organized by the Student Affairs Coordinating Board (BAKORMA) of Polytechnics throughout Indonesia for the Vocational Accounting Department. SNAV is a competition for Scientific Writing for Vocational Accounting Department Lecturers which is a forum for disseminating research or research results in the field of Accounting, while OAV is a competition for students of Polytechnic Accounting Departments throughout Indonesia which aims to find and prepare prospective professional accountants.

The sixth Vocational Accounting Olympiad in 2023 has the theme "New Era of Accounting - Technology, Sustainability and Post-Pandemic". There are five competition categories in OAV 2023, including the Scientific Writing Competition (LKI), Accounting Quiz Competition (CCA), Dexagon War Competition, Poster Competition and Video Content Competition.

Amri Amrullah, S.E., M.Akt. as one of the supervisors said that the PNM Accounting Department team sent six students to take part in the Accounting Quiz competition and the Dexagon War competition which were held offline at the Balikpapan State Polytechnic. Meanwhile, other team members took part in the Poster Competition and Video Content Competition which were held online.

This year is the second OAV that the PNM Accounting Department team has participated in after the pandemic ended. In 2022, PNM sent a delegation to take part in OAV at Malang State Polytechnic but did not bring home a trophy. Even so, this condition actually provided valuable learning and experience for the PNM team as preparation for taking part in the next competition. "From the competition in Malang, we evaluated what was missing, what needed to be done and fulfilled, then we did it this year," explained Amri.

This effort bore sweet fruit. The PNM Accounting Department team succeeded in winning six winners from the initial plan which only targeted at least three winners.

Furthermore, Amri said that in order to create regeneration, the students who took part in this year's competition were not planned to be included in next year's competition. "The seniors who are currently competing, next year will have the task of being mentors to help lecturers in providing tips to their juniors," he explained.

This strategy has been applied to students taking part in OAV in 2022 to students on the PNM OAV team this year. "This year is like that. Last year at OAV in Malang we also sent six students to Malang, three of whom we involved as supervisors here," explained Amri.

Apart from getting tips from seniors, the PNM OAV team was also guided by a team of teaching lecturers to help prepare for OAV 2023. Among them were Amri Amrullah, S.E., M.Akt.; Mukti Prasaja, S.E., M.Sc.; Permatasari Cahyaningdyah, S.E., M.Sc.; Ulfa Rahmawati, S.E., M.Sc.; Gemelthree Ardiatus Subekti, S.A., M.A.; and Koerniawan Dwi Wibawa, S.ST., M.S.A.

Regarding OAV, Amri has two big hopes. First, he hopes that in the future the PNM Accounting Department team can win the General Champion title. And secondly, PNM can host OAV in 2025. "There are two hopes, to be the General Champion and to be the host," said Amri.

By becoming the host, Amri hopes that the wider community can get to know Madiun, especially the Madiun State Polytechnic. "In the past two years, our target is just the existence of PNM from the participant side. In the future, from the participant side there will be attention, so then from the organizer side, we want to be an organizer." he concluded.
