KMIPN V 2023 - TKK Study Program 1st Place in IoT and IT Study Program 1st Place in E-Government

PNM - Two teams from the Madiun State Polytechnic (PNM) succeeded in winning 1st place and runners-up in the National Polytechnic Informatics Student Competition (KMIPN) V 2023. The KMIPN V event was held at the Surabaya State Electronics Polytechnic. There were 152 teams from 33 polytechnics who managed to qualify for the final round which took place on 31 July – 3 August 2023.

The two PNM teams that succeeded in bringing home the title were Team Berkah from the Computer Control Engineering Study Program (Prodi TKK) and Team Kagura from the Information Technology Study Program (Prodi IT). The Berkah Team won 1st place in the categoryInternet of Things (IoT),while the Kagura Team won the Champion of Hope categoryE-Government.

KMIPN is a prestigious event for vocational higher education institutions in the field of informatics. This time, KMIPN V took the theme "Vocational Making Campus Achievements Towards Informatics Innovation". The choice of theme is in line with the superior human resources program from the President of the Republic of Indonesia and also the Independent Campus program from the Minister of Education and Research and Technology.

This fifth KMIPN event presents eight competition categories in the field of ICT. Among themHackathon, Cybersecurity,E-Government, Business Design in ICT, Animation,Internet of Things(IoT), Creating Innovation in the ICT Sector, and Game Application Development.

The Berkah Team, consisting of PNM Computer Control Engineering students, took part in the competition categoryIoTand managed to win 1st place.IoTis a concept about certain devices that have the ability to transmit data without any interaction from human to human or from human to computer.IoTitself uses an internet connection to connect devices to exchange data.

As additional information, the Berkah Team's achievement in winning 1st place in IoT at KMIPN V was not the first win for the Computer Control Engineering Study Program at the KMIPN event. Previously, at KMIPN IV in 2022, the Aren Team from the TKK Study Program also succeeded in winning 1st place in the IoT category. This achievement indirectly placed the PNM Computer Control Engineering Study Program as the defending champion in the IoT category at the KMIPN event for two consecutive years.

Meanwhile, the Kagura Team, which consists of students from the Information Technology Study Program, took part in the categoryE-Governmentand won Champion of Hope. E-Governmentis an application competition that uses internet-based information technology by the government to provide information and services to the public, businesses, employees or other governments, or vice versa, the public or businesses can interact with, or provide information to, the government. ApplicationE-Governmentitself can be implemented in the formweb-based,mobile-basedor a combination of both.
