Madiun State Polytechnic (PNM) held a Computer Based Test (CBT) for New Student Admissions (PMB) via the offline Independent Test route on Tuesday (04/07). Located at Campus 1 and Campus 2 of PNM, the implementation of offline CBT was the first to be carried out by the only state Polytechnic campus in the western part of East Java.
CBT is a selection carried out based on the results of computer-based test scores. Even though this year is the first time PNM has conducted CBT, in 2021 and 2022 PNM has held the Independent test. However, the test is carried out online from each participant's home. “First time. Beforeonlinefrom their respective homes," explained the Chief Executive of PMB PNM, R. Gaguk Pratama Yuda, SST., M.T.
The PNM PMB team has also made various preparations to hold this offline CBT. Some of the core preparations made regarding facilities and infrastructure are ensuring the availability of adequate computers, a smooth internet connection, and electrical conditions to anticipate incidents of power outages.

“Persiapan koneksi internet harus lancar, komputer harus memadai, soal listrik juga menjadi yang utama. Utamanya terkait sarana dan prasarana (red: di Kampus 1 dan Kampus 2 PNM),” terang Gaguk.
Devina agrees with the adequate condition of facilities and infrastructure. This CBT test participant from Caruban said that all computers were able to turn on and operate smoothly until the end. Devina admitted that using CBT was very helpful in the test process she underwent.
"In my opinion, the use of CBT was very helpful in the test process this time, this Independent test. The infrastructure is quite adequate, all the computers can run smoothly until the end of the test," said the participant who hopes to study in the study program of his choice at PNM.

The implementation of the CBT Independent Path of the PNM Test is divided into two groups, namely Engineering and Commerce. The choice of study programs included in Engineering will be held at 08.00-11.00 WIB. Meanwhile, Business Administration will be held at 13.00-16.00. Both are located at Campus 1 and Campus 2 of PNM.
Meanwhile, the material tested for Engineering and Commerce in the Independent CBT PNM Test consists of the Scholastic Potential Test, Indonesian, English and Mathematics with a total of 100 questions. Apart from the Scholastic Potential Test, the three test materials differ between the Engineering and Commerce groups.
This year there were 536 CBT participants in the Independent Test route, with details of 309 participants in the Engineering field and 227 participants in the Commerce field. Meanwhile, the study program with the greatest interest in the Engineering field is the Railway Engineering Study Program which is at level D-IV, and the field of Commerce is the Business Administration Study Program at level D-III.

Regarding the quota received through the Mandiri route, Gaguk said that this year's PMB was different from previous years. Because now there are three PMB pathways, namely Achievement-Based National Selection (SNBP), Test-Based National Selection (SNBT) and Independent Selection. PNM itself opened three registration routes for PMB in 2023. These three routes are SNBP, SNBT, and Mandiri which are divided into two: Mandiri Achievement and Mandiri Test.
"The Independent route from PNM, test-based (Independent) selection is the last route. Then for those with a 30% quota (Independent route) it is taken from the total 100% who will fulfill this year's quota, 1050." Gaguk explained.
Gaguk hopes that through the CBT Independent Test Route, the campus can get the nation's best sons and daughters who are worthy of studying at PNM. "So our hope, or mine as the PMB Team Leader, is to get the nation's best sons and daughters. Passing tests, test-based selection here at PNM. Hopefully the participants who pass are participants who are indeed worthy oreligibleto enter PNM in all study programs." he said.

Gaguk further said that by holding this offline CBT, PNM will have the opportunity to become the organizer of the Computer Based Written Examination (UTBK). The hope is that UTBK participants, especially those in Madiun and surrounding areas, will not have difficulties because the test location is too far away.
"By holding the Mandiri Based Test at PNM, hopefully in the future PNM can become the organizer of UTBK. So that participants will not have difficulty and be too far away to take the test, especially in Madiun and its surroundings," said the Chair of PMB PNM and lecturer at the PNM Railway Study Program.
As an additional note, the announcement of the CBT Independent Test Route results can be checked periodically in each registrant's account on Thursday, July 6 2023. *(Public Relations Team/PIP PNM)
