Madiun State Polytechnic (PNM) initiated the formation of an alumni association called IKA-PNM on Sunday (09/07). Taking place in the Joint Lecture Room, Building C, Campus 2 PNM, this activity was attended by Deputy Director 3 PNM Fredy Susanto, S.Pd., M.Pd. together with around 40 alumni representatives from various classes at both PNM and Madiun Polytechnic.

The formation of IKA-PNM is a forum for gathering alumni from Madiun Polytechnic and PNM. This is partly a follow-up to the large number of Madiun Polytechnic and PNM alumni since 2006 spread across various regions.

"We actually have a lot of alumni but we don't have a platform and they are still scattered everywhere. That's why yesterday we took the initiative to form IKA, we found alumni from various classes, both Madiun Polytechnic and Madiun State Polytechnic alumni." Said Deputy Director 3 PNM Fredy Susanto, S.Pd., M.Pd.

For the record, Madiun Polytechnic was the forerunner of PNM before it was finally nationalized in 2012. For this reason, there is no difference between PNM alumni and Madiun Polytechnic, because both are one unit.

"It's called IKA-PNM, it is a forum for alumni of the Madiun Polytechnic and the Madiun State Polytechnic. So there is really no difference." he explained.

Regarding the agenda for Sunday's meeting, namely the formation of the IKA-PNM management which was carried out through voting by the alumni themselves. The alumni chosen as chairman of IKA-PNM is Septi, a graduate of the Computerized Accounting Study Program in 2007 when PNM was still called Madiun Polytechnic.

Fredy also admitted that he was grateful because the initiation received a welcome from the alumni who came. The alumni also immediately held a vote to elect the chairman and deputy chairman of their management independently without intervention from the campus. Meanwhile, other management matters are still being processed for the next meeting.

Fredy further revealed that the alumni association was very beneficial for alumni and institutions. Both parties can also provide information to each other through the IKA-PNM forum, for example regarding job vacancies.

"With the alumni association, it is possible that if there is information about job vacancies or about further studies, we can share to the alumni association and from the alumni association itself it can spread the word to fellow alumni at the Polytechnic (ed: Madiun Polytechnic and PNM)." Fredy explained.

Apart from strengthening relationships, the existence of alumni ties can also build and expand networks of fellow alumni who may be spread across various regions. Alumni who have been successful can also provide useful information for their juniors who are still studying. Even 2006 graduates can also get to know 2022 graduates, and vice versa.

"Because if there were no IKA, IKA-PNM, what we would know would be limited to one or two classes up or down. Even though we have been graduating since 2006 (ed: since it was still a private company called Madiun Polytechnic)." Fredy explained.

In the future, Fredy hopes that the IKA-PNM management will soon be formed and can provide benefits for alumni and the campus. "The hope is that IKA-PNM can be solid and its management will soon be formed so that it can provide benefits to institutions and institutions can also provide benefits to IKA-PNM." Close Fredy. *(Public Relations Team/PIP PNM)
