
PNM – Madiun State Polytechnic (PNM) Railway Study Program won 3rd place in the 2023 National Welding Competition (NWC) which was held on 15-19 August 2023. Radiffa Aditama, a student from the Railway Study Program who was one of the PNM delegates won 3rd place in the 2023 NWC in the GMAW 3G Plate category which was held at the Shipping Polytechnic Surabaya State (PPNS).
This achievement was not Radiffa's first victory in the NWC event in the GMAW 3G Plate category. Last year Radiffa also took home the achievement of being 3rd Runner-up in the same category in the 2022 NWC which was held at the Medan State Polytechnic.
The National Welding Competition (NWC) is a welding competition which is participated in by State and Private Polytechnic/Vocational Higher Education students throughout Indonesia. NWC participants will face the challenge of working on welding theory and predetermined work objects, and with limited time participants are required to produce perfect weld results.

The NWC race itself is meant to be seenskillthe best competence and knowledge as per international standards. Where assessment of knowledge and skills is carried out through written and practical exams.
Railway Study Program student Radiffa Aditama took part in the GMAW 3G Plate category, where this category carried out welding on plates in the 3G position using a Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) welding machine. This category also requires participants to carry out welding perfectly.
As additional information, the 2023 NWC has the theme "Creating superior and competent human resources in the industrial world in the welding sector". Just like last year, this year's NWC also competed in six categories. These include the categories Plate SMAW Challenge Position, Plate SMAW 3G, Plate GMAW 3G, Pipe SMAW 2G, Pipe GMAW 2G, and Pipe GTAW 2G. *(Public Relations Team/PIP PNM)
